BACKGROUND OF THE ORGANIZATION

Global Action for Community Development (GLACOD) is a non-profit organization based in Limbe, Cameroon. It was established with the aim of promoting sustainable development and improving the lives of individuals and communities in the region. GLACOD operates with a strong belief in the power of community-driven initiatives and the importance of collaboration to bring about positive change. The organization focuses on various areas, including education, healthcare, environmental conservation, gender equality, WASH and socio-economic empowerment.

EDUCATION

In the field of education, GLACOD works to enhance access to QUALITY EDUCATION for children and youth in Cameroon, we strive to provide educational materials, improve school infrastructure and offer scholarships to underprivileged students.

HEALTH

GLACOD aims to improve access to healthcare services, especially for vulnerable populations. We work towards providing medical supplies, supporting health centers, and organizing health campaigns to raise awareness about various health issues.

ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION AND CONSERVATION

GLACOD actively engage in activities that promote environmental sustainability, such as tree planting, waste management initiatives, and awareness campaigns on the importance of preserving natural resources.

GENDER EQUALITY

GLACOD conducts educational programs and awareness campaigns to challenge gender stereotypes, promote gender equality, and empower individuals to challenge discriminatory practices and combat gender base violence GBV. We work to ensure that girls and boys have equal access to education and are encouraged to pursue their aspirations without limitations based on gender.

LIVELIHOOD DEVELOPMENT

Additionally, GLACOD empowers individuals and communities through various socio-economic initiatives. We provide vocational training programs, entrepreneurship support, and microfinance opportunities to help individuals develop sustainable livelihoods.

YOUTH EMPOWERMENT AND CIVIC EDUCATION

We aim to develop programs that creates opportunities which will encourage and develop the youths to be morally responsible, self-reliant and financially productive citizens. Civic education imparts information and creates awareness of civic morals and values, rights and responsibilities and on how they are implemented and accessed by all citizens. This helps youths to develop the knowledge, skills, and commitments to interact and address shared problems.

Through their dedicated efforts, GLACOD has made a significant impact on the lives of many individuals and communities in Cameroon. We continue to work towards our vision of a more equitable and prosperous society, relying on the support and collaboration of local and international partners. Overall, GLACOD's commitment to community development, education, gender equality, healthcare, environmental conservation, youth empowerment and civic education and socio-economic empowerment has positioned them as a vital organization Cameroon, striving to create a brighter future for all.

AGRICULTURE/LIVESTOCK

Agriculture is an important livelihood in our community. Majority of inhabitants in Cameroon depend on agriculture as a source of income. To this GLACOD is out to empower farmers with the right knowledge and skills in improve farming techniques, organic farming and diversification. This will hugely contribute to the country's GDP, and also benefits local farmers on their produce. Through this we will train them and provide income for agricultural practices.

MAIN OBJECTIVE

The main objective of Global Action for Community Development (GLACOD) is to promote sustainable development and improve the lives of individuals and communities. GLACOD aims to achieve this objective through various programs and initiatives that address key areas of development, including education, gender equality, youth empowerment and civic engagement, healthcare, environmental conservation, food security and socio-economic empowerment.

SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES

  • Raising awareness and sensitizing on gender equality GBV in our communities
  • To carryout sustainable development projects in our communities
  • Educate and implement water, hygiene, sanitation and health (WASH) in vulnerable communities
  • To carryout Health activities and fight against HIV&AIDS, COVID19
  • Carryout environmental protection and conservation
  • To promote agriculture, livestock and fishery, food security
  • Educate and promote our cultural heritage in our communities
  • Engaging in youth empowerment, civic engagement and capacity building
